Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity is: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I like to look at it as banging your head against a wall and expecting to make money for it. Doesn't usually work too well. There is apparently quite the debate amongst bloggers as to whether this was originally said by Benjamin Franklin, or Einstein, or someone else. Either way, its true. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is just not very smart any way you slice it.
The same thing applies to any business. The businesses that break the mold and do something new succeed. Those that continue with the status quo eventually are shown the Chapter 11 door. Horse carriage makers used to think that the whole automobile fad was just a phase that would pass. In a more modern example, huge, established airline companies are struggling while new, smaller companies are succeeding by focusing on low fares and customer satisfaction.
I know that is true, because when I first started in MLM, I made a list of my 100 closest friends and family membersI gave away hundreds of dollars worth of Samples and promotional materialsI pitched my new life changing product to everyone I knew and everyone I ever metI went to the local mall and practiced "The 3 Foot Rule" (Attacked every person that came within 3 feet of me and pitched them on my business)I contacted old high school friends who I had not seen or talked to in years and told them I wanted to "re-connect" over lunchI went door to doorI cold called people from the local phone bookI called local businesses and tricked whoever answered the phone into coming in for a job interviewI spent THOUSANDS of dollars on leadsI made 100 cold calls a day to my "Hot Opportunity Seeker Leads"I spent THOUSANDS of dollars on training courses and "Proven Turnkey Systems"I tried a different Company, then another, then anotherI passed out FlyersI placed "Sizzle Cards" on gas sta!
tion pumps and windshieldsI went to weekly Hype-filled "Rah!-Rah!" Opportunity Meetings or conference callsI attended boring company training events. It wasn't quite as successful as I had hoped, to put it lightly.
The original businesses of network marketing began almost 100 years ago, with vitamin sales in the US. Since then, its has grown into an enormous and comprehensive industry with companies on all continents. (Yes, all continents.
